But if your AOS will go anything like your EAD then you should have it in your hand in just a few months time - receipt or no receipt!

I'm not holding my breath on that one! Providence office was displaying a sign (albeit July 2003) stating 12-18 months for I-485

Well according to the USCIS website they're working on March 3rd applications (as of November 14th), so I guess you're looking at your AOS sometime next summer?
At first I was pretty upset about Atlanta processing applications of June 26th 2001 (as in 2.5 years), but I think now I'm quite content because I'll be able to skip the whole "conditional' spiel that way.
