Wow, you got your EAD...that's fantastic! I do have to say I envy your timeline every time. *L* You seem to have been so lucky with all of your process! Many congrats on your new authorization to work!
On one hand I'm really looking forward to getting mine, on the other I'm shit scared! I've never had a job before and I'm not very confident about my skills...the combo just leaves me thinking no one will ever want to employ me - ack!
Anyway...best of luck with your job hunt...can't wait to see what you came up with!

On the very bright side Steffi you won't have anything to compare it to. Most people when they immigrate have to take a step or two down from their old job but you're starting out with a clean slate.

I too covet Karen's timeline and now have a silent mantra where I pay homage to it.

i see you finally sent off your I-129F yesterday. If your timeline is anything like Karen's you'll probably be here by X-mas! *LOL*

True, I guess I won't have to take a down step. I'm dreading and looking forward to it at the same time. *L*

Thanks Steffi and I know, I am very lucky with my timeline.

You were ahead of me in the EAD game so I was reading your posts about your experience, but when no NOA arrived, only the letter which didn't mention "biometrics" etc., I was thinking "mine isn't like that" I really didn't expect them to actually give me the EAD card today, so that was a major bonus.

After 14½ years in the same job, I'm sure I will feel apprehensive too about starting somewhere new but I am looking forward to getting out and socialising. Some days I feel so lazy - my cats are great company but they don't talk much!

Hey Steffi, if you can handle this immigration process, a job will be a walk in the park for you! You'll be fine - I am going to guess that you will doing something in photography - any ideas which area?

Did you get the cats there Karen? I'm taking mine with me. I've already lugged the poor things from London to Spain and could never leave them behind.

I've had 18 months of work and am slowly going insaner than ever. I can't wait to be able to get back to my old industry.

Yeah, I was quite surprised to hear that you got your EAD card myself. But, as always, this process is never consistent (and they expect us to keep it consistant!).
I know what you mean about feeling lazy. Patrick is working his butt off (going to school full time and supporting the two of us on his part-time job) and I'm sitting here doing nothing. As a matter of fact, I'm so lazy I haven't even been bothered to finish unpacking since we moved into our apartment mid-October. *L* Though in my defence the stuff that hasn't been unpacked is the useless stuff that you just leave standing on shelves to collect dust anyway.
I hope the job thing will be easier than the immigration process...that would certainly be a plus! How was it for you when you first had to look for a job?? And yes, I want to see about getting a job in a photography orientated field, but unfortunately am not quite sure what. I've been thinking of just doing assistant photography work in a studio because I feel like I didn't learn anything about studio photography at Uni and I'd like to. BUT we will see. I already calculated what day 91 is for my EAD...January 23rd.

No Sibsie, they came over from England - they are 13 and 14 years old, I've had them since they were kittens and I couldn't leave them either, they are my "kids"! They have been through every stage of my life with me - good and bad. They made the Transatlantic journey with my sister ("auntie") who they know and love (she talks in a stupid voice to them like I do!). Looking back, I think it was better that they didn't travel with me as I would have been a nervous wreck. I was going to bring them but it didn't work out that way.

They seem to be really happy here - in fact they are both sleeping soundly as I type!

You've really made me feel so much better now. My two (both 9yrs) were fine coming here but I've been getting frazzled about the Atlantic trip for them. I've been telling them about their new life on the farm and they seem quite pleased with the set up.

Raffi the Burmese has been seriously depressed since Steve left. He hates being a single parent cat.

I'm going to stop now before people start getting the right impression about me.

Big giggles... me too!

How was it for you when you first had to look for a job??
Dunno, it was so long ago

I already calculated what day 91 is for my EAD...January 23rd.
I really hope you get it before then without having to go and demand it. How long are they quoting?

Haha, glad I'm not the only one! I think I've decided that those boxes should just never get unpacked...just sent straight back to mom-in-law's house for storage.

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Current Status:

Your I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION was received on October 24, 2003. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 30 and 90 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete.

Note: since my fingerprinting my AOS status has changed (like they acknowledged my fingerprinting), but nothing has changed for the EAD status. :-/
And according to the USCIS office status page they're working on applications dated Ausgust 28th (as of November 14th).

Now see, I can't check my AOS status online coz I don't have a NOA for AOS (only grocery receipt) and therefore no case number

Target's no good...especially if you actually want to bring money in. If I worked there I'd end up spending more than I ever earned Congratulations by the way...now you can be a working girl (not that kind)
