K3 visa granted!!!
Hi,
My wife got her K3 visa in Bangkok on October 21, 4 days before our 1-year anniversary. Quick and easy interview. I'll post a timeline when I get back to the states (on a borrowed computer right now), but in a nutshell we sent the I-129F in in mid-may.
Finally!
-but i do have a question about adjustment of status. is this something which will require us to stand in the day-long line at the local INS office or can it be done via mail?
thanks,
Court

Court,
Congrats on the Visa for you and your wife!!! I'll one for ya :-)
As for the AOS, I believe you make application via mail and then wait for notification (most likely followed by a stand/sit/pacing session at the local INS offices). I'm in the same boat here, still waiting for K3 interview date for wife and think, wow, after all this time, waiting/wondering, etc., what's ahead for the AOS as well...lol.
Congratulations again and best of luck :-)

well, im in the perfect place to ask questions. I spent the day at the school and translation center where my wife was going for the last 9 months. They said to send in the I-485 form, which basically involves yet another monster packet of forms. Then wait. Then my wife can apply to get a work permit. When the time comes, we will receive a notice from the local INS office that there will be an interview, and we'll have an appointment then. Interesting form. asks questions like "Will you be commiting espionage in the United States?", "Do you plan to overthrow the government?", etc. OK whatever. Oh well, just happy my wife is finally coming home with me. I met her almost 2 years ago. we're getting old!
Take care,

Different offices have different ways to go about it. It depends on
your place of residence in the United States. For example, when I
filed K3 AOS for my wife in Boston, we had to submit in person at the
office. The good thing is they gave me the fingerprinting and
interview date right away. I could of gotten EAD on the same day if I
wanted too. But she is going to school and in no rush to start
working.
Other offices may require you to mail it. Contact your local INS
office to see what the procedure is.
