K3 or CR1 processing?
The married will be less than 2 years at filing.... so should I do a K3 visa
(non-immigrant) for my soon to be spouse or should I do CR1/IR1 visa
(immigrant) processing?
The foreign spouse is in Indonesia, and the USC lives in the US.
Does anyone have recent experience with processing K3 or CR1 in general
recently? Any pro and con with these two? I would think the K3 processing
will be
about 1 year. Not sure about CR1 processing in Indonesia.
It is not too late to do K1 processing either at the moment... but I think
K3 was a better choice for us since she wants to train her replacement at
work for a few months. K3 is slower than K1 processing, correct? But if
they can do CR1 in about a year then maybe I should do a CR1.
What do you think? Any feedback?
Thanks.

Sorry, I cross-posted at misc.immigration.usa too.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. File both. Time line will depend
in part on WHERE in the US the USC spouse lives.

Re: K3 or CR1 processing?
This is new news for me... I can do both, huh?
She doesn't want to come earlier than 1 year but right after 1 year from our
wedding in early next year.
Is there an information about time line matrix for K3 or CR1 given the
information is Arizona and Indonesia?
Thanks JM.

"Timeline" questions are always tricky -- becuase of the rubric "your mileage may vary." Also, in most timeline questions, most AmCit posters here believe that they have a constitutional right to share a bed with their beloved in the United States TODAY. So they are not concerned about delaying things.
Do note that in order to file a K-3 petition, you must first file an I-130 and receive the filing receipt. If the I-130 is approved first and makes it to the State Department first, the K-3 is "moot" since you already have an I-130 pending.
While processing via Department of State, you have ONE YEAR to complete each step -- in other words, you don't have to hurry.
Final comment -- an Immigrant Visa [off the I-130] is valid for SIX MONTHS. If you get the K-3, it is good for TWO YEARS.

Re: K3 or CR1 processing?
This link: https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/js...ter=California shows that as of August 3, 2006, CSC is working on I-130's from February 2006. About 6 months. But these processing dates are just a ballpark figure and can speed up or slow down at anytime...and your case could have its own problems and follow a different timeline. I think they are actually working faster than what's posted here, though.
As for how long it takes to get through NVC, on to Indonesia, and getting an interview there...keep doing some research on folks that have actually gone through Indonesia. They're the only ones that will know.
Best Wishes,
Rene
