K1 Visa Question
#1
Hi all!
New to the forum, but in a blind panic.
My fiancee is a UK citizen, I am a US Citizen. We were to be married in the States in November, but due to the long processing times, we had to move it to the end of April this year. He is supposed to come over on a K1 Visa, and we received a letter from the NVC on Dec. 28th that the paperwork was approved and sent to the London consulate. It also said that he would receive a packet in the mail with further instructions for scheduling an interview. He has yet to receive that.
We are trying to assure that we will definitely get the visa in time for the wedding, before we give our UK guests an
to book the flights/hotels for the wedding.
Anyone know how long it will take to get the documentation from the London embassy for an interview? Should I be panicking like I am???
Any help would be appreciated!!!

There is NO way to guarantee this. It's best not to make any kind of final plans until the visa is in-hand. Hopefully you can get a refund or change the date again if you need to.
You don't need to panic, I'm sure things are processing as usual. With the holidays, it might be taking longer to get things shipped over, or sent out. I don't know how long it will take to get the visa applications from London, but from the time the checklist is returned, it's about a 2-month wait for an interview date. You can always request a date sooner, whether they will comply or not is up to them.

hehehehe..
You can do your part now to make sure that you are ready for that checklist to arrive. The UKC can gather up all his required documents if he hasn't already, and get his vaccination deal underway in preparation for the medical.
You can also note on your visa application that you've got a wedding date scheduled. Word is that they try to accommodate folks.

The police certificate in the UK is the slowest part of what needs to be assembled. Get that going now.
We had to cancel one wedding ceremony set for August 2003 (applied in April 2003) and finally had an interview in September 2003 - and married in October 2003.

You should be OK, but as has been said, no guarantees.
You might want to push it back to give your UK guests adequate notice and so they can get reasonably priced flights.
