K1 application from Canada...Any info/experiences would be appreciated
Was wondering if anyone could give me some information on the K1 process and
specifically how it seems to work out comming from Canada.
My fiancee and I met about 12 years ago when I was a millitary brat living
down in the US. When I moved away we kept in contact and recently decided
to get married. When I was living down in the US I was issues a SSN, though
a not valid for employment.
I understand she needs to file a I-129F. What forms and paperwork will she
require to go with this and what does she need from me before she can file
it? Also how long does this process usually take? From my understanding,
once the I-129 is approved I will be contacted by my local US consulate and
sent more forms to complete. Is this a proper understanding and if it is
the case can I prepare the paperwork ahead of time and what will I require
for this? What would be the next steps and what should my expectations of
delays be?
Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided, with the millions of
things that we're dealing with in trying to get married I just want to make
sure I have a good grasp of what we need to do for this crucial portion.
Regards,
Mike
