Hi Don,

Thank you for your response. Does the list include the normal I-130 visa(other than
K1 or K3)? I filed both K3 and I-130. My I-130 was approved on July 15 and K3 is
pending to approval. Thanks,

Amelia

I posted the GZ info yesterday. Trust me on the info. I have been living in China
for the last 3 months because 1) the K3 process takes forever, submitted 1/4/02 2)
GZ screwed up the address change in China, lost 2-3 weeks 3) had to reschedule
interview due to birth of our child 4) and now, of course, this "administrative
review". I have been to the GZ consulate 15-20 times. I know many people there, one
personally. I have made appointments and talked to everyone except the Consul
General himself. I've talked to people who have given up their homes and jobs
because they were certain to have a visa within a day of the interview. Thanks for
the heads up, Colin ! Anyway... my point is this: believe what I post. BTW I talk
to the consular chief of mission's secretary regularly - she will call me as soon as
anything happens in regards to this issue. I'll posy anything new from GZ. Good
luck to all.

Frank,

Thanks for your persisitence on this matter. I am a regular reader of 6 immigration
web groups, and post regularly on three of them. You appear to have the most direct
pipeline to what's up at GZ. Keep it up, we appreciate your efforts.

My wife had her successful K-3 interview this morning (China time), that lasted all
of three minutes. It is a pity that she has to return to GZ from Hangzhou again to
pick up her visa at some unknown date, which is, by the way, a 20-hour train ride.
Lucky for me she doesn't mind riding on a train. I would go stir crazy being cooped
up that long, on a train that nowhere resembles an Amtrak passenger train!

Frank,

Don't let COLON Powell eat your PiGu, you need it for sitting on and waiting but he
should be kissing all of ours. I had been thinking about getting them to postpone my
wife's interview at GUZ which is scheduled for Sept 9, thinking maybe they would get
caught up in about a month but they are getting farther and farther behind so this
would not be a good idea, right? Thank you, you are doing a great job being the man
on the spot with the credible info. Good luck to you and your growing family.

You are right, I'll just let him lap it up a little. You want your wife to keep her
date. They may reschedule for the following month if you cancel and then just be
behind that many more people. Thanks, and good luck to you.

Feel free to e-mail me, but do it at [email protected], my hotmail box gets extra
spam and I don't want to accidentally delete a real note. I have been working in
China on and off for almost 3 years so I can certainly fill you in on any details.

FYI - This is what the sheet of paper being handed after the interviews in
GuangZhou looks like:

Dear applicant,

Due to changes in pre-interview clearance requirements, we will be unable to issue
you a visa until receiving further notice from U.S. authorities. Once we receive
notice, we will notify you by mail to return to this office to pick up your visa.

Please write your home address carefully on the envelope and give it back.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

The Immigrant Visa Unit The U.S. Consulate General in Guangzhou

The funny part is that they say it is pre-interview clearance requirements,
yet they only give this notice to post-interview beneficiaries. If the hold
up is really a pre-interview clearance, it would not surprise me to find out
later that some people that have not interviewed yet end up getting their
visas same-day, before others who have already interviwed. Knowing the
efficiency of China Post and difficulties in deciphering Chinese characters
(by the locals), it will not hurt to inquire as to the status of your case
once or twice per week.

Frank,

Is this same letter being given to the K1 and the K3 applicants? I hope you are
eating plenty good dim sum. Hang in there.

Frank,

Where are you? Please come back! The immediacy and authenticity of your updates is
irreplaceable! (Of course if you are on the way home that would be fantastic).

Still here... unfortunately for all of us, really.

I copied the text and look of the actual letter handed to my wife. We are doing
the K3 thing, I'm sure it is the same letter for everyone getting screwed.

Here is the latest from the Chinese front:

Talked to GUZ contact a few minutes ago, still no change. They are waiting for
"...public announcement and local guidance. No visa cabled to USA has been
returned yet, we hear they are going to take a long time."

Being one of the first unfortunates to have a petition go through MSC's IBIS
experiment, this does not give me a good feeling. I estimate that fiasco
delayed my petition by 2 months.

Does anyone know of a change in command in a different consulate/embassy ?

I don't think I posted it here but: Ted Gong, the consular chief of Hainan
Island fame, was called back to DC at the same time this crap started (aug 1).
His replacement will be named this Friday. Is this because of a promotion or a
monkey slapping ? Nobody will say, but it was sudden and unexpected and it is
interesting in the timing. The issue important to us is if this change of
commant is/will affect our petitions. I hope not, but I believe it is affecting
things here. Any lone gunmen out there to comment ?

BTW, I check this newsgroup twice daily. I just didn't have much to say,
Possumrex. Good luck to you, good luck to all.

Frank,

It's time to start a new post on this subject, the next time that you have new
information. This particular one is getting buried by newer posts. Few will bother
to go back three or more pages to seek info. Your updates are valuable, so let's put
it where others can see.
