My fiancee received her K-1 Visa, on it it says Issue date 12 July 2001, Expiration
Date 11 Jan 2002. There is an Annotation---K.Pet Approved by INS SSC 18 May 2001
Valid to 18 Sep 2001. She is coming to America 1 August and we were planning on
getting married in October. What is this INS Valid to date mean? Thanks

The valid to date means that your k 1 approved petition (Pet) was valid for 120 days.
The expiration date is the date that she has to entery the US by. You are fine.

That's the date of the I-129F Petition approved by the INS. The K1 visa itself is
given by the Department of State, which is not the INS.

The petition is good for 4 months - but once she's got the visa it makes no
difference anymore.

Congrats on getting the visa!

Hi,

That date just means that she had to have her interview by then (petition approved 18
May, and was valid for an interview until 18 September), and she has to enter the USA
by Jan 11th 2002. Because she had her interview before September 18th and will be in
the USA before her visa expires, she's fine.

Good luck!
