Just for giggles, let's track this thing! I-129F
All righty, just for kicks I thought I'd track the process for my wonderful British fiance John and myself (l'il ol Kansas girl). *waves to John if he's checking the form today!*
At this point, I'm optimistic. I am super-anal retentive about filling out forms, but I also work for a state government agency and am realistic - this is a slow process ! So let's see if my optimism fades over time! Hee!
First date of note -
June 25, 2004!
We decided on June 25 to quit waiting and go ahead and get the K-1 Visa application rolling. So I downloaded the I-129F form, the biographic info, etc. etc. etc. Gathered my birth certificate, decree, pegged photos to prove we'd met, made subdividers to make the info easier to get page through (with nifty bottom-tabs, since all is two-hole punched at the top woo hoo!), bought the Acco fasteners, got the 3/4 head shots taken, gave John a list of info I needed from him, attached phone bills, trip itineraries, engagement card from friends, cover letter, letters of intent, yadda yadda yadda. It's a stack o' stuff. Got the last items I needed from John in the mail Saturday, finished assembling the packet, wrote a humongous $165 check, double-paper clipped it to the top of the application, made an extra copy of everything for myself and John, and then ....
Second date of note -
July 19, 2004!
Monday, I mailed it all off via priority mail (cause it makes me feel better) to the Nebraska USCIS service center!
And now ...
WE WAIT! ;-P
And while we wait - being the hyper-form queen, I have already downloaded as much as I can about what John's forms will be like (did that the same time I downloaded all of the necessary I-129f stuff) - we begin pouring over future forms so that when the time comes, he'll have all the info ready and we can get that stuff in as quickly as possible. But for the time being, step 1 is officially outa my hands!
So, check this space! I get a kick out of watching something through the process, so for all of you like me, this one's for you!
Although the way it sounds, this post may roll off the boards long before there's an update. Heh heh!
Ah! The optimism will die shortly, won't it? Oh well! ;-)

I was surprised to recieve a reply I-797C (receipt notice) from

180 days from the date of this receipt for us to process this type of

Since you are "super-anal retentive" ( your words I wish I was in
this matter) it would be nice to list all of the forms that you got
for John's. I have no idea what my fiance will need in term of forms
for the hurdles ahead. thanks,

Still for the giggles !!! Welcome on board. What you all need so much right now is a special drug called "Immigrabiotics".
I am sorry if you have not heard about this drug. Frankly you can reliably find this special drug in britishexpats.com and visajourney.com Surely you are in the right lane !!
This "Immigrabiotics" will help you to fight against impatience and mistakes. It will give you the essential ingrediences to remain focused and well informed through this long immigration journey, now and the consulate stage.
Read the FAQ of this website, you will find what documents are needed by the consulate for interview when the time comes.
Good luck.

Re: Just for giggles, let's track this thing! I-129F
Thanks for the info J.
I went to the sites, got a list of forms:
DS-2001 (or OF-169 or UK/85) -- This is your main set of instructions.
It is also a checklist of items required for the interview.
OF-167 -- information sheet about financial responsibility. You may
also receive an I-134 Affidavit of Support form.
DS-230 or OF-230 Part 1 -- biographical data sheet.
DS-156 -- Nonimmigrant visa application form
DS-156K -- Nonimmigrant fiance(e) visa application
DS-157 -- Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application (for all males
between ages of 16 and 45)
You may, at this time, receive medical exam information, and a list of
required immunizations.
DSL-1083 -- An information sheet about police certificates, military
records and more.
thing is, I could not find these forms at the USCIS web site.
I did a google search but I am not sure if these are current. Are
there a site that have all of these forms?

"Immigrabiotics!" Love it! Dose me up!
Mai, I'm gonna have to go look and figure out where I downloaded those forms from. I think it was from someone's personal website who'd been through the process, they had a link to the forms page. But I can't remember whose site it was, I ended up bookmarking so blinkin' many of 'em. Heh. I'll keep looking and post the link for you when I find it!
And I received my receipt from the Nebraska Service Center!
So so far, here's our timeline:
June 25, 2004 - We make it official, and decide to get the forms going. I go into overdrive gathering information.
July 19, 2004 - I send the completed application to the Nebraska USCIS
July 21, 2004 - USCIS receives the application.
July 26, 2004 - I receive the receipt number in the mail!
Heh heh. Now more waiting. ;-P
Whee!

Woo hoo! Another update!
John got his notice from the London Embassy today - his medical and interview are scheduled for January 14, 2005!
Wow, we play this right, he could be out here in time to celebrate Kansas Day with me, heh! (January 29)

Congratulations!! I envy you
Question on your timeline though...
November 19, 2004 - Received "Packet 3"
November 24, 2004 - Mailed Part I forms of Packet 3
November 27, 2004 - Received police certificate!
November 27, 2004 - Mailed the "I have all of the info" forms!
I'm wondering what the difference between the two mails you sent were? I've only sent one so far... I'm not aware of "Part I" ...? I just got Packet 3, filled out the forms, sent it back.. still waiting to hear anything...
Can you enlighten me? Thanks

Thanks
Then there was another separate form, a checklist, that said once you had received all of the information listed (I-134 affidavit of support, police certificate, etc.), to send the checklist in.
Our understanding was the two parts could be done separately, so we did. I suppose if we'd had the police certificate already, though, we would have sent it all in one packet.
Hope that clears things up a bit!
