I have a question about the affidavit of support for the I130. I make between $28,000 and $32,000 a year from my business that I opened up 3 years ago. It is only me and my little boy but my son is autistic and he takes 2 types of medicines for his condition. One of his medications Zyprexa is around $496 a month for 30 pills but this has helped him so much. However it has caused me to spend so much money every month to buy it. The nurse at his school told me about the CHIPS program( its almost like medicaid but I pay a monthly fee every month to use it) but it is so much cheaper then normal insurance. This is the ony way I can afford this medication every month or I would go broke from it. I have tried different meds and this seems to be the only one which helps with his autistic fits. Since this program is ran through the government but yet I make way over the income level and have made this much in the last 3-4 years, will this CHIPS program hurt me in trying to sponser my husband? I have my last few tax returns and it shows I made more then the required amount to sponser him yet I also found out this CHIPS program is ran through the governnment so this may make it hard trying to get my husband here. I also own the business and the house that I am living in. Please let me know if I am in for a long hard road ahead of me. As far as a co signer, I am trying to do this on my own because my parents are old and they couldnt do it. I could put my house as colateral, it is worth $89,000. Thanks to everyone!!

Your son is the one getting the benefit. Think about that.
I went to pick up some medication for myself the other day. My HMO coverage has a drug benefit for $5.00 per presecription. I was amazed when the pharmacist said "That will be $168.00, sir." I insisted she double check my coverage again -- I paid the $5.00.

It is also very comprehensive coverage and covers things like wrap around services for the child. Since you were asking about CHIP I thought I would ask. Also, what state are you in? Different states have different CHIP eligibility levels. My state has free and low cost CHIP depending on income. You might not be eligible for one but you might be eligible for the other. There are also various deductions they take into consideration when determining eligibility. Are you sure you don't qualify. I'm just very confused by your original post what type of insurance you have for your son.

I pay a low monthly fee every month( low cost) for the CHIPS program and I live in TX. I have an insurance for him called CHIPS, it is not really medicaid but almost like it. They based it on my childs need how much expenses I have every month with my income. I would apply for SSI for him but I think I make too much for him to qualify. His doctor visits are not so much. I was paying $80 every 2 months before I got CHIPS and paying out of pocket every month for the zyprexa and that stuff is like gold. and

I would think that as long as your husband is not included on the plan then it would not affect the I-864 responsibility.

You have purchased an insurance plan for your son. That's it, nothing more and nothing less. The fact that you have a good price for the insurance is irrelevant to the I-134/864.

There are some good and bad days with it.
You are very welcome. No need to apologize.
