Default Juarez K-1 interview Documents Question

In responding to a query from me, the US Consulate has sent me an email informing me that I only need to bring my "last income tax return, the last six months of check stubs, and bank statement" in order to demonstrate financial solvency.

I have seen others prepare for k-1 interviews by getting signed and notarized letters from their employer and a manager at their bank. I have also seen a web site about someone's 1998 k-1 interview in Ciudad Juarez in which they got the signed and notarized letters.

My question is this:

Am I foolish to take an email from the US Consulate at which I will be interviewing as a valid indication of what documents will be requiered of me at the interview?

BTW, income level is not an issue, so I won't need to be using assets to demonstrate ability to qualify.

Thanks!

Wow!...... you got a response from the Ciudad Juarez Consulate.......
amazing!

Normally I would tell you to be skeptical of any information you receive
from them....... I'm of the opinion that if they had one more brain cell
between them it would die of loneliness.

However..... having just gone through the process down there....... I took
bank statements on letterhead, a letter from my boss also on letterhead, 1
year of tax returns (which they didn't ask for but I took anyway) and a
couple of pay stubs (which they also didn't ask for)..... so if you follow
their instructions you should be fine....... nothing needs to be notarized.

Now...... if they say the dreaded "we need fingerprints" at the interview
stage, it's $85 and perhaps 4 more months of waiting....... I just got
through month one and it seems like an eternity. Not trying to scare
you...... but they said it happens all the time.

If you have children also trying to cross as K2's....... talk to me......
that's a whole another adventure in itself.

Good luck to you.......

As a side note...... and this is good info for anyone. Let your bank know
you are going on a journey. My fiance and I drove from San Diego to Ciuadad
Juarez. All along the way I was getting gas and food in Yuma Arizona,
Tucson, Las Crusas New Mexico, El Paso Texas, and then Ciudad Juarez on my
debit/credit card. An unusual pattern I guess..... I'm not complaining......
good system, I wish I would have known.

When the Consulate took away my fiance's tourist visa and wouldn't give it
back, I had to put her on a bus to Tijuana that night....... being short of
cash, all of a sudden my card didn't work anymore, so I had to drive back
across the border to El Paso (thinking it was a problem in Mexico) and my
card still didn't work....... in a panic, got on the phone and it appears
they were protecting me from theft........ they reactivated it and I drove
back, and got her the money just in time for her 8:00 departure....... it
put an ugly spin on an already bad day.

Instead of swinging by Vegas to get married on the way back (I had my Frank
Sinatra CD in cue "Luck be a Lady Tonight") and our "gettin' married
clothes" packed....... my fiance was on a smoke puking bus back to TJ
through the Sonora ..... while a drug addict woman gave her and her
daughters a bad time all the way back...... this woman stripped naked, she
spit on them, and puked on the floor....... the bus driver wouldn't do
anything...........my fiance having had enough, had her arrested in
Mexicali.

Thanks for the info Baja.

Sorry to hear about you and your fiance's assorted complications. What a hellish ride that must have been for her.

As it turns out my step daughter to be will be joining us for a k2 visa, I'm almost afraid to ask what the story is on that subject.

If she is just a kid and without children....... you are home free, tell her
to relax and answer questions truthfully and with confidence...... no
problem.

My stepdaughters however, are older, and have children out of wedlock......
when they were asked if they had kids, they fumbled and stumbled, (I never
thought they would be so intimidated by the process) .... finally admitting
that they did. I saw the tone of the interview change at that point. I was
then told that they didn't believe that they were never married, and was
also told (never mind the 4 month fingerprint check for my fiance) that
Mexico would take around eight months to do a records search...... and then
proceeded to say that if they find out that they have been married, my
fiance will NEVER be able to cross.

And my K1 saga (nightmare) continues.........................

Oh man. Sorry to hear that. In our case, she's just a kid. I'm amazed at how complex these things can get if one variable happens to change. I hope it all works out for you Baja.

Thanks again.

I too received a reply from Juarez.

I said I (the USC)could offer the following to prove financial
solvency:

Letter from employer on letterhead.
Letter from bank and brokerage house listing balance and value of
accounts.

They said that they did not need form I-134 and that a copy of last
year's tax return would be required.

They said that none of these need to be notarized.

They said nothing about pay stubs. That has me worried, because I was
just going to send the letter from my employer.
