Interview....while pregnant

Re: Interview....while pregnant
Burden of proof that it's because of the pregnancy will be hard to prove unless they are complete numpties.

I wish you all the best, Pepsi, but don't make yourself ill trying to work right up to the due date. I think you'll find that really hard if it's a physical job.

The money would be useful if i can work for as long as possible, the pregnancy wasnt planned and recently all the savings we did have went into fixing the car because the clutch and suspension went out...there went $800 of our savings.
Insurance company conned us out of another $600.
and of course all this decides to happen after christmas, an expensive time of year.
oh and OBGYN costs are about $2500-$3000, we're lucky we have a really understanding OB, shes letting us pay it in as little/big installments as we want. For the hospital fees, MIL said hubby can apply for financial aid or something.
we're hoping hubby gets a good tax return, but right now it might even be him owing them! ugh!!!
needless to say.....2010 sucks so far lol
a job is a good start in the right direction, if the work gets too tough and i have no choice but to stop, or even quit then i will. but i'm pretty strong willed so we'll see!

Last couple of months can be seriously rough, especially on the back, legs, feet and bladder that it'll do your head in working a desk job, would be seriously rough to have to go through it whilst lugging stuff about...so good luck with it!

Although I had a desk job, I did paint my living room and the nursery while 8 months pregnant.
My worst period was around 6 months when I felt tired, 7-9 months I seemed to have loads of energy.

Everybody is different. I worked to the last possible moment, legally having to go on maternity leave 1 week before my due date. I woke in labor the next morning

I then went and got a urinary tract infection - joy joy! anti-biotics for that. Im getting my energy back now, and tbh i'll be glad to get out the house and doing something active!

If you are not insured hospital bills can be massive. Even if you do get financial aid. I also agree with Bob. They can find another reason to terminate you if they find out you are pregnant, especially if you have concealed it from them. "Not the right fit" is an excuse often used .

And in America they can terminate you for almost anything, anyway. So if she keeps the job, she's won...............and if she loses the job, she's also won.

I agree with Fatbrit. Plus, she's not really concealing anything ... and even if she was, it's against the law to discriminate for pregnancy, so that's the employer's problem, not hers.

What does it matter? She'll have some US work experience under her belt with a suitable reason for terminating the employment. So it'll be much easier to get another waitress job.

I guess its a case of wait and see what happens, I think for now the best thing to do is get through the training and go from there.

ok
so I went in for orientation, the probation period is 28 days, I start training tomorrow and should be done by sunday and then start on my own.
Had OB/GYN appointment today and on monday I hopefully find out if we're having a boy or a girl. (im 5 months)
28 days is a month, there is no way they *wont* notice im pregnant before the probation period is up, im already showing a fair bit (this is gonna be a big first baby ) but they havent said anything if they did notice.
I get my t-shirt tomorrow, and well they are probably going to notice baby bump sooner rather then later.
The interview I didnt say anything, now ive got the job....what do I do?!?
My MIL says I should tell them I just found out - that doesnt seem like a good idea.
My husband says I should tell them once they notice and say that I didnt think it would be a big deal because its not in Britain
Other people have said wait till after the probation period...but that seems a long way away, they will notice before then and Im not sure if they are more likely to say "we're letting you go because it "didnt work out"" when really they are pissed i didnt tell them i was pregnant....
If I tell them im worried im going to hear that "it didnt work out" phrase anyway.
Im getting myself stressed about this and i know i shouldnt be but I need some guideance on this one please!!!

To cut cost for having he baby have you looked into using a midwife and birth center, they are usually cheaper than the hospital and OB/GYN.
Another thought if you are low income enough many states will put pregnant women on medicaid and also include the baby for so long after delivery. Check into your state. the baby counts in size of family for income requirements if I remember right. Also sign up for WIC, help with the food bills for you.
