interview tomorrow
 

good afternoon all,
finally my interview is tomorrow, and i am finally looking forward to this all being over. i was wondering if anyone who has done the interview could let me know roughly what will happen, what sort of questions i will be asked?, i have all the documents and more evidence of the relationship, thank you guys :)

Admittedly, it's been a while since I got a K-1 visa, but the process hasn't changed all that much in this regard. I was asked about how we met, what she did, what sort of work I planned to do... stuff like that. It was completely anti-climactic and I wasn't asked any question to which I didn't already know the answer. There's no trick questions! :)

Hey Neilus, I'm not applying for K-1 but my appointment's tomorrow too!
Hope yours goes well. I'm getting the usual butterflies I get before job interviews/international travel/ etc.

When I was looking for info about the doctor's experience, I found this lady's blog. She was also applying the K-1 - admittedly this is from 2011, so it might have changed a little - hopefully it will help: Queen's English: The visa interview

Try searching this forum too - I was getting very nervous last week and found reading other people's experiences made me feel more at ease and remind me if I needed to bring anything.

I compiled this list off visajourney's reviews (United Kingdom US Consulate Reviews - VisaJourney)

And found it to be very useful as we were asked most of them, lol! (compiled from reviews from Dec 2014-June 2015)

1. How did you meet your spouse and what is their name?
2. What work do you intend on doing (what do you plan to do when you get to America)?
3. When did you first meet your spouse in person and where?
4. Have you met your spouses family? When and where?
5. When will you be going to America?
6. Where do you intend to live in America?
7. Who has filed for your visa?
8. Where did you get married and what was the ceremony like?
9. How long have you been married?
10. What does your spouses's mother/father do?
11. Does your spouse have any siblings?
12. What does your spouse do for a living? How long have they been doing it?
13. What have you done from the time you met until now (how have you kept the relationship going?)
14. Who is the joint sponsor on your AOS?
15. Where was your spouse born?
16. Have either of you been married before?
17. Have you ever been denied entry to the US?
18. Why do you want to move to America?
Optionals:
19. What are your plans for insurance?

Umm... he's getting a K-1 visa. The guy isn't married yet! :)

I would hope they'd sub "fiance" for "spouse" for the relevant ones to them! :)

All those seem rather run-of-the-mill, which anyone in a genuine relationship should be able to answer easily. In fact I would even say that if you over-prepare with multisentence answers to questions such as "what does your spouse's mother and father do?" it might actually cause alarm bells to ring. ...... The interview isn't a trick, and the process isn't intended to thwart genuine relationships. Just relax, the process is nearly over, and if there is a spoke to be stuck in your wheel it certainly isn't going to come from not remembering whether your fiancé(e) has two brothers and three sisters or three brothers and two sisters. :)

The CO asked what my father in law's (co-sponsor) job was - neither my husband and I could answer specifically.
We know what company he works at and his vague field, but his job title or actual job description - eh.....

The CO was totally fine with that and remarked that many people our age can't explain their parents' jobs.
Sometimes they do know or talk about their own job and they go into such great detail, but they use so much jargon that she has no clue what the person does either!!:rofl:

Exactly! It ain't mastermind. Just tell em what they want to hear, no more, no less.
I said once that by the time you get to the interview stage, it's virtually a formality. In typical internet fashion I got shot down on here, it's not a formality scoff scoff scoff. However, once you get to the interview stage, it's virtually a formality ;)

Not by me you didn't. If there is a problem with your application 99 times, or more, out of 100, it will have already appeared during the processing of the paperwork and you won't even be at an interview.

I suggest, instead, that people tell the truth - because telling "... em what they want to hear..." simply isn't the same thing. That's probably what you meant, but that's not what you actually wrote.

Congratulations! ..... I'm guessing none of the questions were unduly challenging? :rolleyes:

BTW Bonus points for using "got", you'll settle in just fine in the US. :rofl:
