Re: interview tomorrow
Hey Neilus, I'm not applying for K-1 but my appointment's tomorrow too!
Hope yours goes well. I'm getting the usual butterflies I get before job interviews/international travel/ etc. When I was looking for info about the doctor's experience, I found this lady's blog. She was also applying the K-1 - admittedly this is from 2011, so it might have changed a little - hopefully it will help: Queen's English: The visa interview Try searching this forum too - I was getting very nervous last week and found reading other people's experiences made me feel more at ease and remind me if I needed to bring anything. |
Re: interview tomorrow
I compiled this list off visajourney's reviews (United Kingdom US Consulate Reviews - VisaJourney)
And found it to be very useful as we were asked most of them, lol! (compiled from reviews from Dec 2014-June 2015) 1. How did you meet your spouse and what is their name? 2. What work do you intend on doing (what do you plan to do when you get to America)? 3. When did you first meet your spouse in person and where? 4. Have you met your spouses family? When and where? 5. When will you be going to America? 6. Where do you intend to live in America? 7. Who has filed for your visa? 8. Where did you get married and what was the ceremony like? 9. How long have you been married? 10. What does your spouses's mother/father do? 11. Does your spouse have any siblings? 12. What does your spouse do for a living? How long have they been doing it? 13. What have you done from the time you met until now (how have you kept the relationship going?) 14. Who is the joint sponsor on your AOS? 15. Where was your spouse born? 16. Have either of you been married before? 17. Have you ever been denied entry to the US? 18. Why do you want to move to America? Optionals: 19. What are your plans for insurance? |

Re: interview tomorrow
I would hope they'd sub "fiance" for "spouse" for the relevant ones to them! :)

Re: interview tomorrow
The CO asked what my father in law's (co-sponsor) job was - neither my husband and I could answer specifically.
We know what company he works at and his vague field, but his job title or actual job description - eh..... The CO was totally fine with that and remarked that many people our age can't explain their parents' jobs. Sometimes they do know or talk about their own job and they go into such great detail, but they use so much jargon that she has no clue what the person does either!! |

In fact I would even say that if you over-prepare with multisentence answers to questions such as "what does your spouse's mother and father do?" it might actually cause alarm bells to ring. ......
I said once that by the time you get to the interview stage, it's virtually a formality. In typical internet fashion I got shot down on here, it's not a formality scoff scoff scoff. However, once you get to the interview stage, it's virtually a formality ;) |

Re: interview tomorrow
Lol as soon as we got in they shut down the snacks counter. It was sort of a cruel joke to have to sit there for 3 hours with dry mouth. Silly Embassy. And also, there was one janitor of Asian decent who spent the entire time we were there alternately mopping the bathrooms over and over again. I was like what?? Can I use them? Hahaha (I was unsure so I held it...until Birmingham). LOL
Congratulations, fellow visa buddy!! We are anxiously awaiting the email from DX. |

Also - good to know for future applications - if you don't want to pay commission on your credit card and you have enough cash, you can pay in pounds! D'oh! It was probably somewhere but I didn't read it in time... |

Re: interview tomorrow
We (myself, wife and daughter) had our interview on Friday afternoon not marriage but EB3 I wondered if anybody on here would post.
I was suprised to see a water fountain and the fact that it was so quite in there  we arrived 20mins late thought :o I never actually looked at the letter and Mrs had it in her head it was130 at the gates the silly G4S lady said sorry only you are allowed in to my wife!!??!! She did'nt read letter properly that wasted more time. Then our daughter burst into tears as she was nervous and frightened due to the heavily armed police. I was expecting to be watching CNN as I read it on one of the post but was surprised to see cartoons Was any of you wearing an American flag Jersey or couldn't keep your hands of each other sat right at the front  |
Re: interview tomorrow
it was all easy stuff, nothing i didn't find hard. asked some basic questions, lasted about five minutes, then said, ok everything seems to be in order, i'm going to go ahead and approve this, i could have cried.
i'm flying out today, will there be anything different at immigration?, what is in that white packet? |
Re: interview tomorrow
The packet contains all your immigration paperwork to date.

The packet just has your papers in it, so the papers are there with you at whichever port you clear immigration at. Maybe one day the CBP will connect to the internet so they they can access your file electronically. |

You'll be sent to "Secondary" to be checked in, it only takes a few minutes, though if they're busy you can end up waiting a while (two hours is not unheard of).

Thanks Pulaski - I was curious whether it was another list of questions to ask to make sure the applicant is the same person at the border or if they really were old school in their data sharing methods. .....

Re: interview tomorrow
Hi folks, just a quick question... the US embassy has 2 lines outside the London office. 1 for US citizens, and I'm not sure what the other line is for - as I've never been. My hubby has his appointment on Thursday. Wondering where I should send him? Do you guys know?
|
Re: interview tomorrow
Since he's not a USC, logic dictates that he won't be in that line. I believe there is an officer outside who will look at his appointment letter and direct him to the correct line.

Re: interview tomorrow
haha. you guys make me laugh. But joking aside, we've done so much work to get this far. That we (me) want to make sure every i is dotted and t is crossed specially in nearly the end of this roller coaster! We are not even trusting public transport service that we have hired a car service to ensure he is at the embassy by 6:30am for an 8am interview.

Re: interview tomorrow
Punctures, accidents... Now a tube strike! A car service you can call another one you can keep going and leave the cabby behind.... Trains.... Not so much. Aim for 6:30 is safe in case of punctures/excessive traffic and such!
