Default I129F (Thailand) approved from CSC -- 4 mo.s processing time

Thank you to everyone that gave me advise on this board. My fiancé thanks
you as well.

Our I129F petition for fiancé visa was approved today. We are SO happy!

We submitted to CA processing center in Laguna Niguel on Mar 10, asking for
a visa from Thailand. We received an estimate of 200-235 days. The actual
process was just under 4 months.

Our next step, I believe, is to wait for our letter from the National Visa
Processing Center with a case #. Then I believe we can ask the embassy in
Bangkok for the Packet #3 with the case # (and maybe schedule our
Interview??).

Our next hurdle will possibly be one of custody. My fiancé has a 4-1/2 year
old daughter from a previous "Thai paperless marriage". The father and his
family hasn't seen or talked to my fiancé or the child in 3.5 years. They
also have not provided any financial assistance over those years. The child
was supported entirely from my fiancé and her family. And, the child doesn't
even remember her father or anyone from his family. My fiancé has the birth
certificate where the father's name IS listed, but the baby has the family
name of my fiancé. The address of residence for the child is currently
listed as that of my fiancé also. And my fiancé has her enrolled in a good
school under her names. We hope this won't turn into a battle when we try to
come to America and a custody issue. But, we think it could because others
on this board have advised us of possible issues, because of the
"undetermined" status of custody that exists. Wish us luck!

John,

Your fiancee can get a Packet #3 from the consular section in Bangkok any time she wants just by going and asking for it. They'll give one to anybody - a petition doesn't even have to be filed, let alone approved.

You can find out what's in the packet at this web site:
<http://hometown.aol.com/nycshyguy2003/>

The consulate will be concerned that your fiancee can prove that she is the child's mother, but custody is not an issue with them. It will be an issue with the Thai passport office. If your fiancee has already gotten the girl a passport then you're over the hump. If she hasn't gotten the passport then she'd best get going on it in case there will be any hurdles to clear.

I recommend that you visit the thai-farang board on Delphi for advice with respect to the visa. You'll find a number of people there with very recent experience.

Regards, JEff
