i-864 question
hi everybody. im married to a US citizen. we are in the process of geting a divorce. i know that divorce does not remove the obligations of the sponsor of me. i made an aggreement with my wife to resubmit i864 to change the sponsoring person. i have a green card for around 3.5 years which i got from the marriage. can i resubmit i864 to change the sponsor to be myself since i can make more than enough and also im a permanent resident?

No, you cannot change the sponsor anymore. Your wife (ex-wife) must still be the sponsor. The soonest thing you can do to relieve her is to become a USC at your first opportunity. When you become a USC, then you no longer need a sponsor.
Of course, if you never use any means-tested benefits, she will never have to worry about fulfilling any sponsorship obligations, either.
Best Wishes,
Rene
