so today on my case status the little circle moved to card/document production. can i work straight away or do i need to wait till i have mt green card in hand?

You can work as soon as you have the EAD in hand. You don't have to wait for the green card.

It takes between 60 - 90 days to get EAD in hand after submitting the AOS package (assuming you included form I-765 in that package).

You are saying the EAD card is now in "card production", right? So you should be getting it within a week or so, in the mail.

thank for all the help and advice over this whole k1 process im nearly done with it all now, just gotta wait on the I-485.

A typical AOS case takes about 6 months from filing AOS to interview.

If you have a job waiting for you, you can start the day you get the EAD. That said, you are allowed to look for work, go to job interviews, and verbally accept an offer of employment... all without an EAD.
