Expect a long wait. I filed in June 2012 and still have not heard a peep. Went for Biometrics in July 2012 so I'm currently at 9 months since filing. I have heard that they have transferred some of their caseload to Nebraska which may speed things up.

Oh great... But I guess maybe no news is good news, at least you're not getting an RFE? (I think I saw someone else who did get an RFE and that was after something like 6 months but I could be wrong and maybe it was the other service center.)

Nebraska - that sounds interesting!

Are you planning to apply for naturalization? I will and it will probably be time to do that before I get my new GC.

My attorney said she has seen some cases take up to 14 months to be approved recently.

As for Naturalization, I will eventually but right now I want to be done with paperwork for a while.

I know what you mean! But people on here have told me it's "easy" compared to other steps in the immigration journey. My main reason for doing it will be that when I'm a US citizen I can leave the country if I want and not worry about losing my status. (We are not sure if we want to / can stay here because of work etc.)

That makes sense! Good luck to you on your immigration journey. I will pop my head back in when my case is approved and let you know the timeline.

If you are uncertain about staying in the USA, is losing your status more important to you than the obligation you will have to file US income tax returns?

Just curious.

Yes. The thought of for example my USC kids wanting to live here and I might be unable to (in case we get divorced for example) freaks me out!

Also we might leave for a few years and then wanting to come back, wouldn't want to go through the immigration hassle again.

Thanks for checking though!
