Default I-751 NOA

Hello all

we filed for I751 (Texas Service Center) and got back a NOA saying
that the green card, work and travel permit are extended for one year.
NOA says also that they have 6 month to process our application and
that if we do not hear within 6 months we should contact them.

questions:

1) does all this mean that the conditions on my permanent residence
have been removed (I guess not yet).

2) What document will finally tell me thet the conditions have been
removed??

3) Why should we contact them after six months? Isn't the INS that
should contact us for the final interview or something?

I am a bit confused....

Stefano

Hi Stefano,
You assumed correctly that your conditions are not being removed yet...you will either get an approval or an interview letter (some I-751 applicants are randomly selected for an interview, fear not... ) . It usually takes around 6 months (according to rather vague statement on the NOA) to process this type of petition. The "if you don't hear from us after 6 months" thing is pretty much to keep us from "harrasing" them with inquiries about the status of the case. In other words, "dear applicants, before 6 months elapses, don't even bother to disturb us in our divine hibernation"...
If you don't get an approval after a year (which is possible), you can go to your local BCIS office and get another stamp in the passport and wait...
Good luck.
