I-751 Approved!!
#1
Alistair and I were sitting around watching a baseball game last night when he hands me his blackberry and says, "Read this email I just got." I look at it and it's an email from USCIS saying that his card production was ordered!! After all of the craziness with his interview in June where he received a RFE, it's over! Went sent the package of evidence on July 9 and it only took USCIS 3 weeks to order card production. For those of you starting the process, Ali filed his I-751 in January 2008, so the whole process took 18 months.
We can both relax now! Only 16 months till he can file for citizenship and then we get to play with the US Government again
BTW, I sent in the paperwork to renew my US Passport and received my passport back in the mail only 2 weeks later. Seems the US Government has been on a bit of a roll lately!

Why 16 months before he can apply for naturalization. For the I-751 it had to have been that he has had his green card for 2 years so that leaves only 12 months to wait. Considering it takes a few months for the I-751 to be approved that would mean he is down to the single digits.
I do hope he is not waiting out the 5 years of continuing residency instead of 3 years if married to a USC. Or are there extenuating circumstances I'm not privvy to.

Here's the deal...He got his original green card in February 2006 through marriage to a USC. They divorced in December 2007 and he filed the waiver in January 2008. So, no continuous marriage to a USC. Gotta wait the five years which puts us at February 2011, able to file in November 2010!

Gottcha! Thanks for the explanation.

Here's an update: Someone has lit the US Government on fire. Email with approval of conditions removed and card production ordered came last Wednesday, the 29th. Ali's new green card arrived in the mail today. So that's 4 days including a weekend. I think they must be engaging in a shock and awe campaign.
Best to all of you,
Christy
