Default I-134 question.

How long is the I-134 and supporting documents valid for?
I have sent the I-134 and supporting documents to my fiancee in November
and we are still waiting on our approval from NSC.
We're one of the few lucky ones being allowed to file our I-129F at NSC :-(
We do not expect approval from NSC for another few months
and want to make sure I will not need another I-134 and supporting
documents when the approval comes.

Thank you

Radu G. Sofronici

Hello Radu,

I have been seaching the web for you, because I'm sure I read somewhere that the documents and affidavit can be up to a year old, but I can't find the information. If I do find it after a bit more searching, I'll post back.

Peace,

D.

Does anyone know the answer for sure? I was wondering about sending the I-134 to my husbnd in Venezuela, since SUPPOSEDLY I should be gettig my K3 approved sometime in the NEAR future. But I'm so afraid of sending the affidavit and other suppoting documents (like bank/employment statements) because of fear of getting a RFE and then having to wait God knows how long!!!!
Will the documents expire?
Does anyone have advice or answer on this subject!!

Thank you CLoweii and D.

I have searched many web sites and was not able to find the information but
I hope by the
time we get our approval from NSC, if they don't change the dates again, the
I-134
and supporting documents will still be valid. I'm certain someone at the
consulate will
tell my fiancee if they are not :-)

Thank you

The I-134 is good for 3 months after notarization AND BEFORE presentation to
a consular officer. Once it has been presented to a DOS officer, it is good
for 12 months. So, if you send it 3 months or more before the Consular
interview, it will expire. It has to be in the hands of a consular officer
for it to be good for the 12 months.

I was under the impression that the I-134 was valid for 12 months from the date of notarization, thus I panicked when I read your post!
Anyway, I e-mailed the London Embassy asking for clarification on this point and they have confirmed that the I-134 is valid for 12 months regardless of when it is presented to a consular officer.

Jonathan,

Thank you for the information.
I can't say I was happy to read your message as I would have to re-do the
I-134
and supporting documents.
Do you have a link to an official statement regarding this? 207lonsdale got
different
information from the London consulate and I just want to be certain.
I could play it safe and re-do the paperwork but I don't want to go through
the
trouble if I don't have to.

Thank you
