Default I-129F Question

Hello. I've just started on the road to filing the I-129F for my
fiance and I. I have a question on one of the requirements. I was
born abroad and registered as a U.S. citizen as a baby. There is no
ceritificate number for me to use, maybe because my certificate is from
the 70s. If I send in a copy of my certificate of a birth abroad,
would this be enough or do I need to obtain a new birth certificate?

If anybody has any information on this subject, I would greatly
appreciate it.

Your Certificate of Birth Abroad is your birth certificate and proves your US citizenship. I know because I have the same and used it without a problem for my husband's K-1 fiancee visa and his AOS.

If you need a new copy of the certificate you have to write to the Department of State in Washington DC for it. This is where I got a certified copy of mine. The birth certificate I have from the German government would not have been acceptable.

Thank you for the reply.

I have my U.S. passport also. Do you suggest sending a copy of my
birth certificate just in case?

I used both with all our submissions. Felt it was better to show how I obtained US citizenship then to have my name pop up as born aboard in the FBI/CIA database and then be asked to show proof of US citizenship.
