Default how soon work legally after marriage

hi guys,

when can the foreign spouse start a job after the marriage? And how long does it
take to get a SSN after the marriage (Denver office)? Tipps/hints are appreciated -
thank you all.

You start work after your EAD has been approved, which can take anywhere from a day to 90 days...depending on what office you've applied to for it.

Your SSN can be obtained the next day after arrival if you came here on a K1 visa, but it's "valid for work only with INS authorization"

As soon as they have their EAD.

Depends on the SS office. There are conflicting reports here. If one office doesn't
give you a satisfactory office, try another.

Good luck!

It is highly recommended to start after receiving EAD approval. If you have filed for
EAD, you could look into the Employment Authorization processing times for your local
INS office at:

Good link, but I don't see my local offices there (Charleston/Greer). Any clues?

Dave.
