Default How soon can medical exam be scheduled?

Hello!

I have recently received the 2nd NOA (approval notice) from the Nebraska
Service Center, but haven't yet received the case number from NVC. Is it
too early to schedule a medical exam? Or, in other words, is the
NVC-generated case number required for scheduling the medical exam?

I ask because my fiancee's passport expiration date is approaching soon, so
we would like to finish all processing at least 6 months prior to its
expiration (according to one BCIS rule).

Thanks very much!

Rajiv

I think it depends on where you are.

At the London Embassy the medical exam can ONLY be done by an embassy
approved physician and not by your own one.

As to the expiration date on your passport, I would guess you'll just
have to go and get a new one to ensure your fiance meets the necessary
requirements.

From what I've read in this group over the past year, the BCIS aren't
particularly sympathetic and it seems the onus is on you to meet their
requirements and not the other way around.

This is completely Consulate dependant, so search for experiences from your Consulate. Some Consulates make the appointment for you, others require the "Packet 4" letter before you make your own appt....etc etc etc
