how long until first response from INS (I-539)
Hi,
I don't have a problem, I'm just curious:
I sent my I-539 (change of status) to the Nebraska service center along with I-765 (EAD). How long does it usually take until I get a first response (I think, it is the letter of receipt with the case no., isn't it? Or is it called Notice of action?). You see, I'm not familiar with INS proceedings.
Will the case no be the exact same number, that enables me to check my case status online?
Will I get two receipt letters for both applications with different case no, or only one?
Any information on how INS processes a case is appreciated.
Ivonne

Usually, one or two weeks. But there have been times when INS was so
overloaded that they didn't even open the envelopes for two or three
months. In that case, the receipt would be generated until the envelope is
opened.

Yes.

Two, with different case numbers. To check the case status, you need to
check both numbers separately.
