How long to before 1st NOA for AOS at VCS?
Hello,
Does anyone know how long does it usually take for us to receive the
first notice of action when applying for AOS after marrying to a US
citizen? We sent our papers to the Vermont cervice center a couple of
weeks ago, and just wanted to find out how long does it usually take
for them to cash the checks and send the receipt.
Thank you in advance

So, no one has any experiences to share? We would really appreciate
any help. I've been scared by a friend that it took INS 6 months to
cash her checks, and she got her first NOA in about a year. She also
applied in VSC. I'm hoping that her timeline wasn't normal. If it
really takes that long, then my wife would be out of status in 3
months. What do we do then? Does she have to go back to her home
country or just wait?
Thanks for any feedback

Vermont generally are the fastest of the Service Centres, if its an I-129f you are applying for then from most posts here the NOA1 is generally around 2 weeks. I dont know about Checks cashed.
I don't think you should listen to your source of advice. My total process tokk 90 days many took a lot less.

His header clearly states NOA for AOS not for I-129F. There is a difference unfortunately in timelines for processing and for sending out I-797s for these two types of petitions.

Unless you live in the Baltimore, MD INS jurisdiction, you should NOT have filed for adjustment of status there based on marriage to a USC.

Also if you are interested in reading actual filing experiences from people who live in the Baltimore area and who have had to file at the Vermont Service Center for AOS you can go here:

We leave in Virginia, DC metro area. Is it true that we should have
filed at a different service center, which one? We've always filed
all other documents (my naturalization, work authorization and such)
at VSC. As for the forms, we've sent in: I-130, G-325A for both of
us, I-485, I-693, I-864, I-131, I-765, and all the supporting
documents. If we've filed at the wrong SC, should we file again at
the correct one or wait? We really appreciate your comments.

If it's AOS then it should go to you local INS office. (please correct me if I'm wrong)

Well, we got married in December. I'm a naturalized US citizen. My wife is adjusting her status from F1. The way I understood it, is that I-130 needs to be filed together with I-485 to adjust status. I guess we understood wrong. If we filed at the incorrect office, are they going to return our applications back to us? Should we wait for them to return the papers or should we file again at the Arlington office? Thanks alot for comments so far. I'm getting a little confused now though
