how long in advance should i apply?
Hello everyone,
How long in advance does one need to apply for a H-2B Visa? Or better, how
far in advance does the employer has to do the paperwork and all?
Thanks

I'm not sure, but seem to remember that it can be six months to a year.
The biggest delaying factor is probably the Labor Certification required
by this category. The government claims (at
http://workforcesecurity.doleta.gov/foreign/times.asp) that they are
processing cases from February or March 2003 right now. I'm not sure
exactly what this means, but I suspect that they sent out instructions for
recruitment for these cases. In any case, the numbers listed there only
start counting when the State office forwards the case to the Federal DOL.
H-2B Labor Certifications are faster than Labor Certifications for Green
Cards, but still slow.
