There isn't really 'reverse racism' - just the fact that all races are just as capable of being racist, not just whites. Not saying it doesn't happen but I wouldn't have any way of knowing that that is what you are experiencing without being there because I haven't experienced it myself. Anyway my main point was that the race issue popped up unexpectedly about midway into the discussion. At first, it looked like a simple US vs Europe work culture thing. Now that, I can help with, after a fashion.

My Northern Irish husband and his family just plain opted out of sectarianism, lived it, and were and are known and respected for it. Yes, things were said about his sister and her Catholic partner and their kids. Yes, other things happened because of it. But when you ask them about it, they just look a bit disgusted, shake their heads, and say with some embarrassment, "We don't do that."
In my family we are the same way about race (and in fact my immediate family lived in the Atlanta area for many years). It's very liberating and I admit that I'm perverse enough that the consternation it causes people who retain racist opinions is one of the perks.
So, folks, let's all "not do that". OK?
