Has anyone had any experiences with fiancées getting hassled by Ukrainian border
guards at Poland border? My fiancée is worried about her 14 y/o son not being allowed
to leave the country by train from Odesa to Warsaw. She has Court document giving
permission to leave Ukraine to emigrate to U S.
Thanks MC

My fiancee went from Nikolaev to Warsaw via train, May 6 2001. Her son (then
14) was listed in her passport. Although she had a court document from the father,
she was not asked for it, by the Ukrainians nor the Poles. I met her in Warsaw
for the interview at the embassy and flew with them back to the US. Entry in NYC
was equally painless. Be sure to ask for the EAD stamp at JFK, they gave it with
no hassle. I think it is a matter of how busy they are. Even if she is not going
to work, it helps to have it. It will allow you to get her a SSN, which you will
need for a multitude of unthought of things. If we can help in any way, please
let us know. George & Larysa
