Default Filing at Local SC - Do both of us have to go?

I need to do the initial filing of my I-130 and associated forms at the = Seattle
Service center. My wife and I are pretty busy with work and = would rather not spend
the whole day driving to Seattle and waiting in = lines at the INS. If just one of us
can go then it would be more = convenient.

We live in Vancouver, WA - can we file at the Portland INS office or is = there some
state related guidelines for this?

Do we both have to go up to file these forms or can I just go up and = file the forms
with out her? In other words, am I going to have to = drive 3.5 hours to Seattle and
wait in line just to hand the forms to = someone who then mails them to the Nebraska
Service Center?

What other forms should I take to expedite the entire process? =20

(I have the information from: =
http://www.geocities.com/immigration...130/inside.htm )

Thanks,

Paul

You don't file at the Service Center unless you live in the Baltimore, Maryland jurisdiction and then you would file by mail with the Vermont Service Center. You will file with the local INS office for your living jurisdiction and for you that is either Seattle or Spokane.

Here is the INS website URL for Washington State. It is determined by which county you live in.

http://www.ins.usdoj.gov/graphics/fi...le/aboutus.htm

As for the need for both of you to go, technically it should not be necessary. However, since you are filing the I-130 as well as the I-485, I-765, etc. it might be best if your USC spouse goes as well since she is the petitioner of the I-130 and you the foreign spouse the petitioner of the I-485.

Remember that is if that particular office allows you to walk the petitions in as opposed to only allowing mail-ins.
