This is crazy. We filed March 28 in Los Angeles. Just barely got her EAD card appointment scheduled for July 5. But today we get notice that her AOS interview is July 21!
Isn't this too soon??? I mean some of you seem to be waiting well over a year. And without her EAD we haven't been able to afford to move into our own place and start a new lease, haven't switch utility bills, haven't bought a car. Everything is still in my name until we have two incomes and the $$ to move out on our own. All we really have is a joint checking account and my auto insurance with both our names. Our lawyer seemed like a real stickler for these things....
If she gets approved, does that mean we don't have to worry about her Advance Parole? We are still (desperatly) waiting for those.

Seems things are picking up! Congratulations on an early interview date!

The officer will understand that your life together is new. Bring whatever you have that's joint, as you said banking, insurance, etc. Bring pictures of the two of you together since she's been here. It's good that you have the EAD just in case she doesn't get approved (security checks might not be done yet). If she does get approved, she'll get the I-551 stamp and can work and travel on that, without the EAD and AP.
Good luck, let us know how it turns out!
Best Wishes,
Rene

No, you are one of the last local filings and the interviews are being set in July. Lucky you -- you got a months notice! we've recently gotten four DAYS notice on some interviews!
You've got a lawyer -- listen to her. However, she may be in Salt Lake City until Monday. A substantial portion of the Los Angeles Immigration Bar is leaving today and tomorrow for Salt Lake City. [I'm not].

Just to let you know you are not the only that has a interview coming up. we are in the same situation as you. we filed on april 26 and just now got his ead, before that we got a notice of our interview which is on august tenth. we are still living with my parents and trying to get everything together. so just to let you know theres someone in the same boat as you are. but you might want to get statements from your friends or family to help you out as far as evidence goes. thats what our attourney is having us do. congrats on the interview date though!

I filed in Los Angeles in April last year and had my interview in
September - 5 months. I too was expecting a 12 month wait, but it
worked out great, I got approved, and even got my GC within a couple of
months of the interview. Tell you what; when your wife gets that GC in
her hands, it's such a relief knowing that you are DONE with CIS for a
couple of years (minus 90 days...).

Folin...
Can you explain what you said for my knowledge. What you mean "last
local filings..."
I was under the impression that all the marriage based cases are
processed at local office. If that is changing what impact is it going
to have on the processing dates ( marriage based) and what are the
local offices going to do?
Thanks
Ashish

LOS went over to Chicago Lockbox filing on April 1, 2005. March was the last month for local FILINGS.
Please read what I wrote -- absent my frequent typos, I do try to be precise in what I say.

Ashish - from what I understand, all AOS is being shifted to the National Benifits Center. They do all the preliminary work on your case (like background checks, etc...) and set up any in-person times for you at your local field office. This was effects April 1, 2005 for the Los Angeles office. I'd imagine processing times will be longer.
