Thank you SO MUCH!
That is exactly what I have been looking for, for days now.... you have made my night!
Are the Bio-metrics done at an INS center? Was the appt date set and you just had to show up or did you call to book a convenient appt?
What city are you in, if you don't mind me asking.
Thanks again!
Susie

Susie,
The bio-metrics are done at an INS Application Service Center....Its a
center that only does things like fingerprinting, pictures, and signatures.
They just verified my identity in person. When you get the first notice it
will ask to call the National Visa Center and setup an appointment. I did
mine through Seattle so I went to the application service center in Burien
Washington.
Hope that helps.

Jackofalltrades:
Did you get to choose the appt day & time yourself? or did they just assign it?
Does anyone know if there is a local one in every city or if I might have to go for a drive to get fingerprinted? I will be living in Nashville.

I got to choose the appointment. Obviously I had to fit it into their
schedule as well but you can pick the time.
You can check the ins website for Application Service Centers.
http://www.ins.gov/graphics/fieldoff....htm#tennessee
It looks like they have on in Memphis and Nashville.
Good luck

Re: EAD Timeline Chicago (K-3)
One other thing I thought you might be interested in.....They gave me the
EAD for the duration of my K-3 visa. So it doesn't expire for a year and 9
months.
Cool huh!

That was the soonest I could make it. I could have got in the same week if
I recal correctly.
The bio-metrics are fast. I was in and out of the building in less then 10
minutes.
Just make sure you bring all your ID and your notices from the INS.

The Bio-Metrics is all electronic
My spouse had the bio-metrics done in Dallas last weekend. They are open Monday through Saturday. She also made appt. on phone. There wasn't any wait time for the appt. it was totally up to her.
They told her on the phone that it would take between an hour and two hours to complete. So I can prepared with the paper. I had the Saturday sports page ready to read when her number got called. She was back before I finished the front page. It took about 10 minutes (I know I am a slow reader.).
They took her picture and prints on the computer. So there isn't much if any wait time between the application center and Chicago.
Good to hear from Jack that it didn't take too long for the actual EAD and I hope we follow a similare timeline and get the same expiration.
