Hi not sure if this is the correct place to put this question
Anyway USCIS have just asked for evidence for my work permit, want to see copies of L2 etc, next week is the 90 day period for me.
My question is will it (normally) get processed quickly now, or am I in for another long wait. I want to apply for jobs, but can't for obvious reasons, but i might be able to persuade an employer to wait a couple of days/weeks if it will arrive soon.
I know I can go and claim a tempoary one on that 90 day business, but for my line of work employers arn't that keen on me having to get a work permit, let alone a tempoary one.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Give up hope on the 90 day thing--they are no longer obligated to give you an EAD and in fact they won't do any walk in or temporary EADs anymore.
A better strategy is to send a complete EAD application to start with.

I know you probably don't mean that in a demeaning way... but when faced with applying for something you have no knowledge of, and the forms only say send in x and y.... how am I supposed to know to send in z?

Hi Amanda, I initially applied for my EAD in April and followed its progress on the USCIS website. They wrote to me and asked for copies of my marriage certificate, immigration docket and L2 visa 4 weeks ago and my work permit arrived yesterday. Hopefully your timescale will be similiar. Hope that helps.

DIY in immigration matters means doing a lot of research, not just using common sense (unfortunately).
Respond to your RFE, add the red pen marking on the outside, save copies of EVERYthing you send in and keep contact with your prospective employers.

WelshDoll, I applied at the end of April... so it looks like I have another 4 weeks or so to go, I got the letter asking for the same things that you had to send in yesterday.... not sure if I can wait another 4 weeks without working... I'm bored!

Do L2 EAD's require Biometrics / Finger Prints?
I think once my wife is in the US and applies for her EAD, she'll go back to the UK and return to the US once it has arrived. Otherwise, she'll be sat twiddling her thumbs and we'll only have 1 income...

Yep, fingerprints and photos needed I got the appointment for that approx 4 weeks after initial filling. I didn't know I could leave the country, otherwise I would have done what you are planning. It even would be worth the airfare just to get the biometrics done.

What if the person does not live in the Vermont SC area?
It also does not sound applicable to the OP's situation here, in that the District Office doesn't issue, and there would still be a delay between asking for the EAD on Day 91 and actually getting it.. in fact, the normal processing would probably catch up to it.
And, in cases where the EAD did not process in 90 days due to an RFE, the 90 days rule doesn't apply.. the clock stops as I recall.
