Default EAD Questions

Hi There,

I'm just about to apply for my employment authorization. Just
wondering if anyone can tell me anything maybe I don't know already.
I am not entirely sure what I have to send with the form or if it even
costs anything? I have read somewhere that it does and somewhere else
that it does not so I'm totally confused.
Also if anyone could give me a rough idea on what the timeline is to
actually receive the work authorization that would be great. I'm
hoping it takes about a month and no longer...I figure I'll be
climbing the walls in boredom by then. :-)

Thanks

Karen

You have to send in $130 with your application for our EAD. You also have to
tell the INS why you are eligible for an EAD, most likely this will be your
Adjustment Of Status (AOS), or a copy of your I-94, K1 visa and passport in
case your not married yet.
After that you wait, and wait, and wait...............(keep
waiting)..................... On the form they say the maximum wait is 90
days, but I'm in my fifth month (guess how bored I am) and I know people
that waited even longer.

Five months? Oh god. Thats insane. I understood it takes anywhere
from a month to three months. I think I would be going insane after
five months. I just could not imagine not working for that long. And
making no money. Ouch! Were already getting killed on all these
ridiculously priced application fees as it is. This definately isn't
the news I was hoping for. :-(

Thanks though!!!

The five months includes the almost 3 months wait as a fiance. I definately
hope I'll get the one based on my AOS within a few weeks. But trust me,
after 4 months you start living in your own world, have a virtual live on
the internet, get so unorganized that just waking up takes 3 hours. It's
just a different world.
No just kidding, it's horrible.
