EAD with infopass in NYC
Hi,
I made an appointment through infopass for early tomorrow morning in
23 federal plaza to get the temporary EAD before the real one comes
over the mail. Has anyone done that? Any idea of how long that takes?
Because I am supposed to work later in the morning (in a new job for
which I need the EAD) and I don't know what to expect.
any recent experiences?
thanks,
M

I can't help with NYC, but our experience was fast and painless. From
what I've read here you might have to spend some time at Federal Plaza,
but if you are past 90 days you get the card.

Be sure to take all your proof of qualifying for the interim EAD with you so you won't be turned away. Good luck.

So I went. A word of caution: you HAVE to take the PRINTED Infopass
appointment. Otherwise they won't let you into the building. BEWARE.
So... about the timeline: I got there at 7:11 a.m. and I left with the
EAD at 10:15 a.m. Some people may take longer if there's any
complication with their case. First they deal with the people who have
real (non internet) appointments and then they start with the walk ins
that made appointments with infopass. At the entrance there was a line
of people trying to get in without an infopass appointment and it
seems like it simply is not possible.
As to the procedure to get the appointment, you just go to the
website, enter your name, date of birth and email address. Then they
give you a chance to pick an hour and date for your date. When I did
the appointment there were spots only 15 days later. And you just go
at the time you picked (no need to wake up at dawn or anything like
that unless your appointment is at 7:00 a.m.)
good luck,

If is not fair because I'm sure that there are many people who do NOT have PC and don't know about this new InfoPass bull.
Technically is great but they should still think of the man without resources.
