all that and we stress over whether or not to put "N/A" or "None" in a blank
space on the forms in fear of an RFE or denial.
pitiful.

And when I think about all the fuss my friend and I had when we asked for our student visa in Paris! Ohg, and we also had a field "Are you a terrorist?" to answer. My friend did not thinking that the Consulate was answering this question by checking some kind of database, and when he got interviewed by the Consular, he was in for a surprise! Plus, we all had to show proof of sufficient funds, and so on...

I know and understand the feelings that we all have against the terrorists, but i just want to play devils advocate here. The spelling mistakes that were made on the forms, if the ins had caused a huge hoo ha about it, wouldnt it have been discrimitary against the applicants (not knowing at that moment about what tradegy was to follow their entry) because of their illiteracy?
Im sorry just asking...

Point, but it wasn't just a case of bad spelling, several of the forms were
not properly filled out. And personally no I don't think it would have been
discrimitory. If a person is illiterate they should seek help in filling out
forms, if it was a case of not first language then they should seek out help
from a person who is fluent in English.
The form clearly asks certain questions, if this information is not provided
then the INS should send the form back and request clarification and/or
correction. Political correctness can only be taken so far. There has to be
a line drawn as to what is acceptable and some of those forms were not
acceptable in any shape or form.

How in the world is it discrimination to simply enforce the rules? (screwed up as they are)
