D'OH! *panics* Notarization?
Hey all,
I packaged everything up, ready to send to Montreal tomorrow for my K-3 I
was sitting back, drinking my usual morning coffee, when I nearly jumped at
spilled it over all the documents. As I was reading over the info packet for
the I-134, I realized that they mentioned having the tax transcripts
notarized. Well, I just had a battle with out delivery person again (he
delievered it to the wrong mailbox for the 30000 time in a row, have filed a
complaint...address was clearly visible too), had the whole chunk of stuff
sent from Jenn. I called Jenn to ask why she didn't get the tax transcripts
notarized. Roy, her father, came on the phone and said the notary would ONLY
notarize the I-134, that they don't notarize stuff like those plain print
out tax return transcripts because there's really no way TO notarize it (or
to truely find it if the info is correct). *sigh* I don't want to go through
this all again. I called one time to Montreal, one person said it was ok,
another said you may or may not get a request for a notarized version, but
if I did, it wouldn't slow the process down, your visa approval would just
be conidtioned until you supply the evidence. ARGH! There goes my flow :-P
Another thing I JUST noticed actually while typing this (and talking on the
phone at the same time! LOL), is the fact that the printouts for thier bank
accounts show EVERYTHING but 12 months of average deposit/balance. It shows
the average balance for this year and last, but not a huge list of every
deposit. Jenn just told me that the officer told HER that their computer
doesn't do that at this terminal, only the main branch when they mail you
your monthly statements. Jenn rarely keeps her monthly statements, so that's
impossible. This is getting irritating. I thought I was all done and good to
go for now!
Anyone else run into this before? I mean, the (no) notarization on tax
transcripts, and just the basic info on your bank accounts (date opened, how
long, average balance, current balance, etc etc)?
-Ev
P.S. I just realized that the bank statements are signed, and that you could
technically cross reference the Tax ID's (on the top corner of the
transcripts) on the bank statements, with the ones on the tax transcripts.
Doubt that helps tho, LOL. *twitches*

Try and calm down a bit. On the notarization, the notary happens to be right. There are two types of notary acts -- the acknowledgement [John Smith identified himself to me and told me this is his signature] and a "Jurat" [John Smith appeared before me, I put under oath, he swore the contents of this document wre true and he signed it in front of me]. Neither applies to verifying tax papers!
The I-134 is the ONLY thing that gets notarized. Copies are just fine to support the statements in the I-134 unless you are from a country which has a fraud problem -- and Canada is not one of them.
Relax -- it will probably be just fine.

BIG thanks Ranjini and Folinskyinla
What about those bank statements? Has everything but a 'list of all
deposits/average deposits for the past 12 months'. It has the average
balance for the whole year, but not 12 different statments each with an
average on it. And we couldn't take the officer's suggestion about trying to
collect the mailed statements either because she doesn't have them anymore
O_o. Hmmm...

Morning Evan
Best to keep the Tim 'Orton's in a cup honey. Easier to drink.
As for the notary Mr. F and Ranjini told you about that. You can always substantiate the transcripts with W-2's if available.
As for the bank statements I know it was back in the olden days but I didn't bother sending statements or giving totals of balances with the letter from the bank. Just gave Jim the bank letter and all was well.
It's been drilled into me over the years that the I-134 is an "either/or" document and you only need to prove your income and/or assets and that you don't have to supply every item in the list.
Now sit back, sip that 'Orton guys brew and relax. It will all be over soon. Perhaps you are od'ing on leftover turkey sandwiches from Thanksgiving? :-)
