I filed I-130 on 10th June, 2002 and subsequently I filed I-129F
(K3-Visa, Petition for alien spouse) on 19th June , 2002. I didn't
hear anything from INS for 5 months. After losing patience I went to
India and again filed I-130F (Direct Consular Filing) on November
25th, 2002. The consular interviewed both my spouse and myself and
asked us to pay the fees. I think since its a personal interview and
the consular asked us to pay the fees means the application is
approved. Generally from friends and other contacts I have come to
know that it takes around 2 weeks for the INS sub office in New Delhi
to process the application and send it over to the appropriate
American Embassy for further processing. Further it takes around 8
weeks for spouse's VISA process that includes medical etc., and
approval of the VISA.
Also my I-129F was approved by Missouri Service Center(MSC) on 26th
November, 2002. I guess the application will be sent to NVC from MSC?
I don't know how much time it takes after approval till my wife gets
the VISA.
I would like to bring my spouse on the I-130 application as she will
get Green Card or Permanent Resident Card. If she comes here on the
I-129F application the she has to file for Adjustment of Status (AOS)
and Employment Authorization (EAD) etc., that would be unnecessary
hassle and waste of time, money and energy.
What shall we (my spouse and myself) do so that she comes here based
on the I-130 application that I did on November 25th, 2002, so that
she get Green Card and Permenant Resident card right away?
Any advise and/or inputs will be highly appreciated.

Bhavesh,
I am really intersted to know what you guys decided to do.
I am in the same situation as you are in. I have already filled the I-130 and I-29F forms but I just found out abt this DCF and I am very much interested in it. So I can bring my wife here sooner and with a green card.
Any information will be appreciated...
Thank you,
Bhavesh Shah

As I explained in a separate post, CALL the New Delhi INS office in
the Embassy. IF THEY agree to accept your case (this means you and
wife have to fly there and do a walk-in appointment), go ahead and do
the interview thing.
AT THAT POINT, tell them about the EXISTING I-130 and have it
cancelled.
DO NOT CANCEL till they have agreed to take your case for the
interview - and this will mean same-day approval, and another two
months to three months for the final interview at the consulate
serving your wife's place of residence.
I have received fax messages from the Delhi Embassy explaining all
this. The key is to hang on to your EXISTING applications until you
are 100% sure they are accepting your I-130 in New Delhi.
If I did not have my K1 approval in hand (I am the USC), I would have
gone with the DCF.
Good luck
