Look for posts from DustyTraveler and OzzyOzbourne; they are both doing DCF/Delhi right now.

Congrats on taking your first step!

Will anyone of you, who has recently done DCF in Delhi, please let me know if they do require 60 days residency in India, before filing date? Thanks.

Yes. They enforce it strictly. They will look for date stamp on your passport.

As Sundar said, yes they're requiring it! Ozzy and I recently filed the I-130 with out spouses and they asked for proof several times. You could always call the consulate and make an appeal, but I wouldn't risk going all the way there to be turned down!

Some of the things you need for the final interview after DCF:

-Police clearances
-I-864 and supporting info (USC's tax returns, W2's, etc.)
-Vaccines (keep a record signed by the Dr. administering them)
-Birth certificates
-Wedding photos, invitations, correspondence letters, misc. proof of relationship

I might have forgotten a few things, these are just a few of the ones I thought of off the top of my head. If you want more info, read my other posts and if you still have questions, send me a message and I'll try to help in any way!

Hello Dusty and Ozzy,

Your posts have been a great deal of help thanks for sharing.

My backgroung and plan

I'm leaving for India this Sunday Feb 6th will arrive Feb 7th and
getting married (traditional hindu wedding, both of us are hindu and the
same caste) on March 7th, court marriage March 9th. Will be arriving in Delhi on April 9th (61st day I think). Fiance from Bombay and I'm from the PA, US.

I have several questions.

1. What do I need to bring forms to file in Delhi (DCF)?
I have my I-130, my taxes, passport pics and passport no naturalization
cert?

2. Do I need to file the I-130 here before I leave with VSC like you did Ozzy?

3. When is the Aff. Of Support (I-864) required? During DCF visit, or later?

4. What are the packets your are referring to (Packet 3..4 etc)?

5. How long do I need to be there after my visit to Delhi? How long should
I plan to be in Delhi for?

6. What is the time frame (guestimate???) from DCF filing to Visa Approval?

7. I'm not employeed any longer since I'll be taking a long leave. What will
I need to sponser my wife? I have assets of 100K (RE equity from 6 month old appraisal + Retirement).

8. I currently live with my parents (RE equity is from rental property), so
what is my household size considered to meet poverty guidelines? Is it
2 people approx 12k?

9. Will my tax returns of ($40K-2004, $0-2003, $5K-2002) pose a problem? I have been trying to run my own business? Will I need a co-sponser?

10. When do I need to file the AOS (I-864)?

I'm just trying to get everything together before I leave and your help would
be greatly appreciated. I will be sure to provide feedback as I go through this process for everyone to see.

Thanks again for the insite of your process... feel free to drop me a line at [email protected].

Best Regards,
Desi

1. Take your Passport,Natz Cert, 2x2 passport fotos (for g325a) , read my interview experience and also goto
http://boards.immigrationportal.com/...d.php?t=102640

Take originals, take more than necessary. Take marriage albums

2. No. Forget VSC if you are DCFing

3. I864 is required when you go to the interview. It comes with packet 4

4. Just information packets. Packet 3 has DS230 and a checklist. Packet 4 has medical,I864

5. Plan on being in delhi atleast 2 days to avoid unforseen closures etc

6. Depends. Anywhere from 2-4 months. Depends on your local consulate

7. You will need assets over 5 times the current poverty line. For eg for a family of 2 the poverty line in 04 was approx
16,000. You will need assets 5 times over this figure to sponsor wife. Download I864 and read it.

8. 2 parents + you + your wife to be = 4

9. Looks like it. Your parents if they have good income can file I864-A

10. Give it to your wife when she goes to her interview

Some clarification please...

1. I don't have my naturalization certificate, only a us passport to prove my citizenship. Will that be a problem?

3. What interview, the DCF filing or the interview my spouse will attend after filing? Is it needed during DCF filing? I plan to be back in the US after my filing in Delhi is done.

4. The information packets come to my home address in the US or do they go to my spouse in Bombay? I'm not responsible for medical am i only my spouse right?

8. Why are my parents included in Household size? They are not dependends of mine? Does everyone living under the home address get included?

10. Will I need to be present for the interview or only my wife? This is the interview after DCF (approx a month or so right?)

Sorry for so many questions, but I want to be prepared so that I can get through this quick and painlessly

I will be sure to document everything to share for others as well.

THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP! YOU DON"T KNOW HOW MUCH IT MEANS!

1. If you dont have it then there is nothing you can do about it. Take any other proof you have
that you got Natzed.. Eg. Oath ceremony letter, photos if you can. If not no biggie

3. Spouse's Visa interview. Dont worry about 864 for now

4. All packets to India. Medical is for spouse only

8. Read I864 instructions. If they share your address they are part of your household

10. You need to be present for the initial I130 filing interview. AFter than you can take off. Give it 3 months
from the date of filing to Interview (visa )
