Just to clarify, you - as the USC spouse - are the sponsor... whether or not you qualify financially. If you choose to pursue the IR-1 visa process, you will require a "joint sponsor". The terms "sponsor" and "joint sponsor" are not interchangeable. Of course, this is somewhat moot if you choose to take the L-1 visa path.
