Default Cover Letter

I just need to get an idea of what to include in the cover letter for
the Fiance visa. Should I describe a little bit about my relationship
with my fiance, or simply state what is included in the packet I'm
turning in? What did you guys do?
Thanks! Alison

I only put that it was for a K3 visa and what was included in the
package....BUT...I personally do not think they care what is in it because I
don't think they even bother about reading them.

Hi,
I would think a cover letter is pretty important. It gives them an insight into what yours and your fiance(e)'s intentions are in gist.
Talk a little about yourself, your fiance(e). What you do for a living, what he/she does. How many times you have met in person, where and when? Why you want to live in the US after you get married(for example, your family ties, or job, etc). Also, list all the forms and documents(including your proof of relationship, check/money order for the filing fee, for example) that you have enclosed. VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU STATE THAT BOTH YOU AND YOUR FIANCE(E) INTENT TO GET MARRIED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF HIS/HER ARRIVAL INTO THE STATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think that just about covers things in general and I hope it answers your question. Also, have him/her write a cover letter as well.
-Lilian.

There is a difference between a cover letter and a letter of intent. The new I-129F asks for letters of intent from both fiancees. In that letter you can give a brief but concise breakdown of your relationship emphasizing duration and times and places of physically having met each other during the previous two years. The I-129F is concerned, not so much with your relationship, but primarily with the fact that you have met in personal within the last two years. It is stated in the instructions and you should submit any and all proof of these meetings, i.e. boarding passes, photographs, etc. Only send copies; never originals.

The cover can include both your names, nationality, and then list the contents included, i.e.:

1. Completed and signed I-129F

2. G-325A for USC; G325A for foreign fiancee

3. ADIT photos of USC and foreign fiancee;

4. Etc.

The letter is most likely not read but it will aid you in being sure that you have included everything that is required to be submitted with the application. So if you do it, do it primarily for your own peace of mind rather than as a missive for the clerk opening your package.

Myu understanding is tha the cover letter should describe the intent of your petition, that contents of the package you are sending and it shuld be brief. The intent to marry letters are completely different and should be either created by both on one page and then signed, or individually, but should bot be a part of the cover letter, per se.

I created a cover letter, and had my fiance complete a his intent to marry letter in English, sign it date it and send it. I did the same.

I'll send you a copy of my cover letter if you want to get the gist of what I mean. Let me know .

Good luck,

Ange

Alison,

This is my cover letter for I-129F that I had an attorney review. Can you
speak up if you have your petition approved?

Also, make sure you read the INS information page on General Instructions on
Assembling Package for Mailing (14 page document that starts with "INS
Service Centers: National Information, The information below applies to
processing at all four (4) INS Service Centers"), excellent information
about using ACCO fasteners and using End Tab folders.

Hope it helps.
