Hi, I'm Luana a 33yr old Aussie hoping to be with my American Sweetheart by
Christmas.

I am new to this Newsgroup, and am embarking on the long, tedious journey of the K1
Visa, next month. I have a couple of questions that I hope can be answered.

The Medical Examination. I have a Muscle Fatigue condition (not CFS) which I may have
for the rest of my life. I am on medication that helps me function normally, and I
can do anything that anyone else can. For example, I recently completed a 10km walk
for charity. I only have to see my doctor twice a year for checkups, which he seems
to think I could even be in remission. I pay for all my own medication, and am not,
not ever have received any kind of Government financial assistance. I am concerned
that the INS will use this as some kind of reason or excuse to "fail" me on the
Medical Exam, thus refusing the K1 Visa. Does anyone think this is at all likely or
possible? I would hate it so much for something like this to prevent me being with
the Love of My Life. If they read up on the symptons and finer medical details on the
illness, it may raise some serious concern with them regarding my ability to lead a
normal life. I can assure you all, my life is as normal as yours.

Is it possible to begin the vaccination process before we subit our request our
applications? My childhood medical records are not accessible, so I will have to have
all the required injections beforehand. I'd like to get started on this as soon as
possible to save time. Can I do this?

What sort of things are you examined for during the Medical? Has anyone ever been
knocked back on the K1 Visa because of some medical condition?

Are there any Aussie's out there that can let me know what it's like applying through
the Melbourne U.S. Embassy and the Milwaukee INS Sub-office? What kind of timelines
are we looking at?

I'd appreciate any kind of advice or help here. THANKS HEAPS!

Direct Consular filing for you would be so much easier. Think about it and read
Alvena's site (the hydes) listed at the end.

It won't be a problem. Congratulations on the walk. I did 5K last weekend in the
Revlon walk/run and you are GOOD!

No you can have a blood test to determine what you have had already plus they go by
your age and country to determine what you would have had already.

Besides vaccinations you will be tested for TB, HIV, STD

Just get a letter from your doctor stating that you are well-controlled, having no
problems, and that you lead a normal life. That is all that you need. Take this
letter with you to the medical exam, keep a copy of this letter for yourself.
