confused - unmoderated group has a moderator
Why does this unmoderated group have a moderator? It's illogical by definition.

Usenet does not have a moderator of course, but the BEx-Pats site does. That is the site that the moderator moderates.

Actually the groups are the same. We are all sending and receiving messages posted to the alt.visa.us.marriage-based newsgroup.
Those people, such as myself, who send and receive to AVUMB do so through the British Expats site rather than through Google or our ISP's newserver. It is the British Expats site that is moderated. I am one of several moderators for the BE site. Posters using this site for posting to the usenet's AVUMB are asked to adhere to a certain code of conduct when posting and have the option to mark whether or not they wish their postings to go to the AVUMB usenet or remain only on the BE site.
The usenet's AVUMB remains unmoderated. It is only the postings and posters who utilize the British Expats' site that are moderated and the posts that are drawn in from the AVUMB site. For example the many postings calling Michael Voight a child molester are quickly deleted from the BE site while it remains untouched on the Usenet.

Can you post the link - as I always wondered how people post through
the website. I access this through google groups.

"mysterys" are those events in life, like how one's boyfriend who is outside the US and can't get a fast visa turns up a couple of months later inside the US with a new spouse.

You're resorting to calling people you don't know names?
