biometrics

I am awaiting my decision on my I-751, i got divorced before the end of my 2 year period, so i had an interview and was awaiting my decision when i got a letter to say i had an appointment for a biometrics, which my attorney said was a positive thing. My car broke down on my way to the appointment, so i called the USCIS to tell them i would be late, they replied it would not be a problem as long i turned up within the 24 hrs for the appointment. As i lived far away and had just left work, i went back to work and went for the appointment in the morning at 9-15 when my car was fixed, well within the 24hrs. The guy at the office did my biometrics and said it was no problem that i miseed the appointment the previous day as i turned up within the 24hrs. I then got a letter from the USCIS saying i had abandoned my status because i had missed my appointment time. My attorney has now had to submit an appeal explaining what happened. Surely they cant reject my case after i had called the USCIS and spoke to an officer who had said it was no problem as long as i went within the 24hrs, i asked him repeatedly.

I, and others, have been following your case with interest for a long time. This is a minor setback and easily fixed - indeed, it may already be fixed and you just don't know about it. USCIS is very quick to pass on bad news... but not so quick to pass on good news.

Thanks Ian. All this is driving me crazy. I have been waiting for a decision over 8 months now. My job is also coming to an end due to the fact they are relocating in January, which means i wont be able to apply for another until all this is sorted it, as my 1 year extension on my green card has now expired.

That is what i thought , but just want to get this biometrics sorted out at the moment. you just call up the USCIS office and make an appointment, right?

My 10 Year Green Card was finally approved. No explanations of anything at all, just a envelope with my card in. What a journey !
Thank you to all on this site who gave me great advice and helped me through all this.
