Big White Envelope

When the courier package containing the BWE and passport with immigrant visa inside is delivered to a nominated address, not the depot, does the addressee have to sign for it? Or can it just be somebody else in the house? My son is having his delivered to my mum's house and is worried what will happen if he isn't there to sign for it but she is. I'd like to be able to put his mind (and now mine too) at rest one way or the other! Asking in the marriage forum as there are more BWE recipients here than elsewhere.

I had a slightly different situation, in that I had mine delivered to my Mum's, as I knew I would't be home to receive it. I wrote a letter naming her and saying I was happy for her to receive it on my behalf, provided a photocopy of my passport and she had to have a document (she used her passport) that identified her as the person named in the letter. Courier was pleased with how prepared we were and handed over the envelope.
