Befuddled AOS Applicant - please help!
Hi,
I'm currently an AOS applicant and have an EAD (Employment
Authorization Document). I want to sign up for a part-time continuing
education (Masters in Computer Science) program. Does that compel me
to change my status to F1? Can I legally retain my AOS applicant
status (i.e. work legally) and do my part-time degree?
Any help on answering the above is highly appreciated. Thanks in
advance!
Socrates.

Just show your receipt of I-485 application to the school and THE
school will let you take classes, part-time or full-time or continuing
or degree seeking or whatver as long as you meet academic
qualification. If you already lived in that state for more thna 1
year, you should alos get instate tuition fees. Insist on it.
In fact, you cannot get onto F-1 and do not need to. You are already
an immigrant ( I think, unless AOS approval is needed to reach that
status) and on your way to permanent resident.
