Beans...what's your fill?

Re: Beans...what's your fill?
I get brown, large eggs, those jumbo ones look like they might have hurt
And yeah, home made chowder...
bacon - a few rashers to garnish, but optional
corn - either couple cans or a couple fresh cobb
2 cans cream of corn
spuds - 2-4 large russets diced into small cubes
4 tbs butter
4 tbs flour
4-8 cups chicken stock
Melt butter and mix in flour to make the roux but if you wanted bacon, fry that up first and keep a small bit of the fat and mix with the butter.
Mix the stock into the roux, as much as you'd want to make chowder of, and when it's boiling, add the spuds, cream of corn and corn and simmer till the spuds are cooked, about a half hour.
Once spuds are cooked, to thicken, in small batches of a couple cups, blend the mixture and pour back into the chowder, only need to blend about a quarter of the pot.
Serve in large bowl, top with grated cheese, personally prefer a strong cheddar or a jalapeno cheese and a crumbled bit of bacon...really nice crusty bread on the side.

The Kroger vegetarian baked beans are ok. We used to be able to get the Heinz veg baked beans, but haven't been able to find them for a while.
I'm surprised no-ones mentioned the after effects of too many baked beans.

I should not have read this thred before I had my breakfast. Now I want beans on toast but I don't have the time. I still have to pack for my flight over to the US on Thursday!
One question though. I have seen people mention vegetarian beans are they different to regular baked beans?! In the UK I buy Heinz baked beans and was hoping I could find a similar type when I get to Indiana as I do love my beans.
I am now replaying the camp fire scene from 'Blazing Saddles' in my head now.

My father ALWAYS wanted his bread buttered for sandwiches my mother not. However my father's grandparents, both sides came over from the UK, my mother's not. Methinks it is a bit of a cultural thing also.

In actual fact it's more common round our way to find imported (British) Heinz Baked Beans on the shelf (albeit at up to $2 a pop) than it is to find Heinz Vegetarian Baked Beans.
If, however, your objective is simply to fart more then can I respectfully suggest home-made sprout and cauliflower curry. Works a charm on Mrs tonrob.

Reg, Frank R.
When I lived in UK, I stopped buying & Heinz & got hooked on the Crosse & Blackwell.
