Default Arlington AOS: post-interview background check

My wife and I had our (her) AOS interview on 1/23/03 at the Arlington
office. Everything went smoothly, the interviewer said she was
confident we'd be approved once the background investigation was
completed. We're approaching two months and still haven't heard a
thing.

Has anyone received a passport stamp from the Arlington office this
year?

Thanks,
Mike

Please let me know how it turns out, we have our AOS in May in Arlington and are anxious to see how long it is taking. Luckily my husband's AP and EAD are valid until Oct. But it could take more than a couple months for the approval I'm guessing.

I'm not sure though how you could check the status of your case?

I had my AOS interview at Arlington on 1/9/03 and have heard nothing since
then. The interviewer told me the same thing - she was certain I'd be
approved, just needed to go through the formality of doing the background
investigation. Please let me know if you hear anything!

I had my AOS interview at the Arlington office the second week of
January and walked out with a stamp in my passport. However, I still
have not received my card.

The interviewer asked some really basic questions, stamped my passport
and said the usual things about removing conditions, etc. She never
mentioned a need for additional background investigation, etc. My
case may have been a little different as I was simply changing status,
from A-2 to PR and have been legally in the US for the last 25 years.

My time line:
Feb 2002 - Civil marriage "ceremony"
Feb 2002 - Applied for AOS in person
April 2002 - Received work permit
June 2002 - Fingerprinting
January 2003 - Interview

The difference in your case is probably the length of time between the
fingerprinting and the interview - plenty of time for the background and
security checks to occur. I wouldn't be surprised if the actual GC printing
requires (again) the database check and perhaps that's why you haven't
received the card yet. It took just under a month for my card to arrive
after the interview at Arlington last year.

To be picky you adjusted status not changed status, same as everyone else
filing for AOS.

We had our interview at the Arlington office this week ( March 2003 ),
the interviewer said he would stamp my wife's passport if the
background check was done. We went back to the waiting room and about
a half hour later he called us back in and said the background check
was not in yet. He had a stack of files he said were done but were
waiting for the background check. He said they only had one computer
they could use to query the background checks so they became backed
up.

Normally he would not have even tried to look for the background check
at the end of the interview, but we nicely asked because we were
hoping to be able to travel soon. When he called us back in he showed
us the computer print out
showing the background check for my wife was not in yet; he was very
nice and wanted us to know he really did try.

Friends had their interview at the end of December 2002 at Arlington
and got there stamp in the middle of February. I think that
unfortunately if you don't get your stamp at the end of the interview
you become just another nameless file on a stack awaiting the
interviewer's attention when they get time on the "background check"
computer.
