Can Advance Parole be filed for on its own, or does the rest of the AOS package have to be filed with it?

You have to file for AOS before you can file for AP. Most offices
allow you to file for both at the same time. The only time you can
file for AP on its own is after you have filed for AOS

The way I understand it is that the AOS and the EAD can be filed through the mail. The AP has to be filed in person at the local BCIS/USCIS (whatever) office.
Steven is going to file the AP because I really want to travel back to Canada to see his folks...I haven't seen them since last summer
