AOS updates

Hi all, I just thought I would post a bit of an update on my wife's
AOS.
Strange happenings I think. The web site with our case status hasn't
been updated since November, (Big surprise), even though we fulfilled
the RFE and had my wife fingerprinted again. According to the
Manchester, NH page they went from checking AOS forms submitted in
late February 2005 to May 12, 2005. We got our receipt for my wife's
paperwork in March 2005. I think they forgot about us or something. ;)
So yesterday I called the USCIS helpdesk. [1]
I spoke with a helpful person and went through the 4 truckloads of
paperwork I have.
We went through the usual song and dance and the clerk told us we
should be getting a letter from the Manchester office in about 4
weeks. If I heard her correctly it will either be the notice for the
interview or they may just send us the green card. (The latter works
for me)
There was one amusing moment during the call yesterday. The clerk
asked for my wife's email address which I gave her. When I told her
the domain she paused and asked me to repeat it. Then she just broke
up laughing. I told her if she was angry at anything she should visit
the web site. ;) [2]
So with a little luck my wife's green card will be in her cute sausage
making hands very soon now. [3]
1) I found a way to bypass the menu options. Instead of waiting 10
minutes to listen to all the choices I punched in a code and was on
the hold line in 2 minutes.
2) I have always found that if you can amuse/entertain a government
officer you can get more things done then if you annoy them. Having
them laugh hysterically at the correct moment as they are nearing the
end of their shift invariably gets you better service. If you want to
see what's so funny look at my email address. ;>
3) My wife latest cooking hobby is making home made Chinese sausages.
Our cellar looks like a smoke house at the moment...without the smoke
of course!
